US OPEN Stadium Transformation Update

Arthur Ashe Stadium is getting ready for US OPEN 2016. Stadium is located in the New York City borough of Queens. it is the largest tennis-specific stadium in the world by capacity, which can accommodate upto 23,771 viewers and is the main stadium of the US Open. Arthur Ashe Stadium was missing retractable roof, but now the stadium is renovated and is under finishing stage of work.

The roof and other renovations, like Ashe’s four new scoreboards and LED lights for nighttime play, have forced the USTA to upgrade the tennis center’s infrastructure. It is building a new electrical substation and a chilling plant to send cool air into the stadium once the roof closes (it will not lower the temperature by much, but reduce humidity and prevent the court from becoming slick).
